Growing In Faith

  • The Roman Catholic Church recognizes seven sacraments as visible signs of God's grace:

    1. Baptism: The sacrament of initiation, cleansing original sin and welcoming a person into the Church.

    2. Confirmation: A sacrament of strengthening, confirming the baptismal grace and giving the Holy Spirit.

    3. Eucharist: The central sacrament, commemorating the Last Supper and offering spiritual nourishment.

    4. Penance and Reconciliation: A sacrament of healing, forgiving sins through confession and absolution.

    5. Anointing of the Sick: A sacrament of healing, offering comfort and strength during illness.

    6. Holy Orders: A sacrament for those called to serve as deacons, priests, or bishops.

    7. Matrimony: A sacrament celebrating the lifelong union of a man and a woman.

  • Discover Your Faith Journey

Are you curious about the Catholic faith? Have you been seeking a deeper spiritual connection? The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) is a welcoming process for those who desire to learn more about the Catholic Church.

Through OCIA, you'll explore the teachings of the Church, participate in community, and grow in your faith. Whether you're new to Catholicism or simply seeking to deepen your understanding, OCIA is a journey of discovery and spiritual growth.

Baptized children in the second or third grade, after completing a first year in parish faith formation and/or St. Mary’s Parish School, are invited to prepare to receive their first Reconciliation and first Eucharist.

Whether you're seeking a nurturing community for your child or looking to deepen your own spiritual life, our Religious Education program is here to support you.

  • We seek to provide a welcoming and safe environment for our youth to experience a strong Catholic community, to answer their questions, and to deepen their faith and spirituality.

Throughout the year we meet as Middle School (6-8) and High School (9-12) youth groups, serve our community, and learn together as pilgrims of the journey.

High school youth: Grades 9-12 who have been baptized and who have made their First Communion may prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation (Diocese of Boise Confirmation Instructions.)  St. Mary’s preparation for Confirmation begins in November.

Parents of youth baptized as infants who have not yet received Holy Eucharist should contact the parish office. An interview with the family will be scheduled to help the parish priest and staff determine the best option for the family and child(ren) to prepare to receive any missing sacraments. If a youth is also of the age to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, preparing for this sacrament can be included in the family’s catechetical plan.

  • Keeping Our Children Safe: A Priority at St. Mary's

At St. Mary's, we believe all children deserve to feel safe, respected, and loved. We're committed to providing a nurturing environment where young minds and hearts can grow in faith.

In partnership with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, we offer the Safe Environment program. This program equips everyone – parents, volunteers, staff, and our youth themselves – with the knowledge and tools to create a secure and positive atmosphere.

Circle of Grace: Empowering Young Minds

Specifically for children in our Religious Education programs, Circle of Grace is a key part of Safe Environment. This engaging program helps young people understand their own personal value, the importance of respectful relationships, and how to reach out for help from trusted adults if needed.
